Our Story

Silver Citizens Inc. was founded to address a growing yet often overlooked crisis—social isolation among older adults, veterans, and caregivers.

As communities evolve, many individuals find themselves disconnected, unseen, and unsupported. We believe no one should have to navigate aging or caregiving alone.

Our Mission

To combat social isolation and loneliness among older adults, veterans, and caregivers through arts, culture, and affirmation—helping individuals remain socially engaged and live with optimism, hope, and dignity.

Future Directions

  • Expanded Creative Opportunities: Increase the variety of arts, culture, and wellness workshops to engage more underserved older adults and veterans, particularly those living with disabilities. 
  • Veteran & Senior Volunteer Engagement: Launch a volunteer initiative inspired by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) model, empowering veterans and older adults to share their skills, experiences, and leadership while strengthening community connections. 
  • Men’s Community Engagement: Develop targeted opportunities that encourage greater participation among men, fostering service, mentorship, and meaningful community involvement.

CEO "Life of Gratitude"

It is deeply gratifying to serve underserved older adults, veterans, and caregivers,
especially those who are low-income. This vision has affected me personally
because I believe that dreaming and believing can make anything possible. I am
dedicated to a life of service, which I see as a divine calling. My service is simply
about being present. I am continually amazed that when God gave me the vision,
He also provided everything I needed.

As a baby boomer, I began to see firsthand where I could be effective and an asset
in redefining quality of life for aging gracefully and living a purposeful life.
Through my years of experience as a professional caregiver and as a graduate
student intern assisting older adults in independent senior living facilities, I
observed that social isolation and loneliness among caregivers and their elderly
loved ones were the root causes of the emotional challenges they faced. Observing
caregivers juggling work, family life, and caring for loved ones deepened my
passion and purpose to serve the aging population. It was also a God-given vision,
and I am privileged to walk this path of faith-infused programming that
incorporates the Dimensions of Wellness associated with aging, Christian
principles, and a holistic approach to promote a balanced lifestyle. In doing so, we
have successfully enriched the quality of life for the aging population and unpaid
caregivers.

The innovation strategy I’m still learning is to collaborate with partners who
unlock novel, useful ideas that drive life-changing transformation. I value
innovation that helps me adapt, seize opportunities to reinvent myself and my
journey, defend against disruptive change in mobile wellness programming, serve
senior living communities where they live, and meet the demands of coordinators
in underserved senior apartments for their residents. The request for mobile
programs reflects community need and higher demand.

Nonprofit Executive Board of Directors:

Silver Citizens Inc. is currently focusing on deliberate growth and strengthening its organization. As part of this effort, our Executive Board is transitioning  to introduce new leadership, fresh perspectives, and improved governance practices. We are actively rebuilding our Board of Directors with a focus on transparency, accountability, and community-centered leadership. Throughout this process, our operations and programs continue smoothly, and our commitment to serving older adults, veterans, and caregivers remains strong.
